Sue Wong, the master craftswoman of regal chic, has once again given us visual splendor with her 2010 Fall collection. When I asked her what her words of wisdom are for this collection, she answered, “Beauty, magic and transformation.” Wong instills in her work a high level of imagination and artistry. She manages to evoke the celebratory presence of the feminine spirit, in much the same way that great artists are able to free the masterpieces hidden in their clay. There is a sublime quality to her designs. The winding undulation of her beading flatters a woman’s form; in viewing her designs, one’s fancy is transported to a timeless place of exquisite beauty and seduction.
The Moulin Rouge series of dresses really piqued my visual palate. I was especially charmed by the red/black silk, embroided gown, with beaded bodice and a floating skirt panel, worn by Megan. This gown looked sexy and elegant, and had a harmonious flare to it. In fact, its musical quality was why this collection impressed me. The gowns with their cascading organza petals exuded a mellifluous quality. The charm of the beaded lace dresses had a lyrical whimsy about them. Pardon my excitement, but I must say that as always, Wong exhibited genius because along with her gowns, the accessories invoked an elegant bohemian rhapsody. The elegance of Michael Antonio’s shoes astonished me, as did the petite and luminous handbags by Mary Frances. They enhanced the rhythm of sophistication already present in the designs. The jewelry by Vilaiwan conceived separately was so well coordinated , it was hard to believe that these ear rings, necklaces and bracelets weren't designed specifically for the dresses they accessorized.
In the Notre Dame series, Linda wore a grand ballgown with ruched skirt and beaded, embroidered torso. with gold accents that were absolutely radiant. Brandise’s physique was adorned in a 1920’s beaded tulle flapper dress, with an organza petal feathered skirt; a feast of visual wonder.I cant praise enough “LA VIE PARISIENNE” 2010 Fall collection. I congratulate Sue Wong for sharing her magic and transforming us with her unforgettable visual land
