At the poorly lit fog filled Key Club theater, Lauren Elaine presented 24 looks from her Fall/Winter Collection. Though the lighting was awful for photography, the set-up established the mood the designer wanted to achieve. For Lauren Elaine, whose overall mission as a designer is recreating the princess-archetype for the modern woman, Fall 2010 was a chance to explore a slightly darker, edgier side with a coquettish twist. Taking inspiration from the classic tale of "Little Red Riding Hood," the new collection still features the classic vintage shapes of past collections, but in such bold fabric choices as black metallic animal print brocades, rich jewel-toned silks, antique laces, and in shapes with exaggerated bell sleeves, sharp asymmetrical ruffled necklines, and mini baby doll strapless cocktail dresses.
The show-stopper (see image below) for the season is a floor-length, full skirted scarlet silk gown featuring the intricate ruffled rosette detailing at the bodice and neck- a feature seen on several dresses in the collection.

while the lighting and FOG (not really smoke?) may have been bad for photos- to see this show in person was spectacular! my favorite of the week.
