Victor Wilde of The Bohemian Society
- Where are you from? Born and raised in Brooklyn NYC.
Currently living in LA. Back and forth to Tokyo a lot.
- What inspired you to be a designer?
I always joke and say I got best dressed in Junior High and High School, which is true, but seriously if you didn't look good growing up in NY you would get made fun of. So I just devised a style of my own and stuck to it. People Dug it and always told me I should be in fashion. I never gave it much thought really until I got involved with a model who was working with one of the biggest retail stores on the west coast. So I devised a concept and within a month I was selling in the window of that same retail store and as they say, well you know what they say....here I am.

- Who is your favorite designer?
Me
- Did you study fashion design?
I have been "studying" fashion all my life, but I have zero formal training.
- How or what was the next step towards making your inspiration into a brand?
Producing a line
- How long have you been doing this line?
Since August 2003
- What was your inspiration for your current designs / line?
I wanted to take natural objects, fibers, materials, and use them in an unnatural way. Shells as spikes, etc. Hence the title "Supernatural" Beyond that , what I do and how I do is unlike any other brand that I know of. I dont have a small factory of immigrants chained up in the back. I work with local talent and have a group of young cool kids that come over, hang out, and help me make things. It's fun and it shows.
- So how are things going? What is next?
Things are great but could be better, always better. We have our boutique on 5th and Spring downtown LA. We are in talks of opening another boutique in Tokyo, throwing around the idea of showing next season in NYC, have a new line of "Body Print" tee's etc etc.
- Any advice for young designers?
Work.
- Do you prefer to deconstruct or designer from scratch...
Or is it all the same to you? Its all great.
- And the same for your art, do you enjoy creating that as much, Or is all the same to you?
I do see the similarities. To me its the same. I approach my artwork with fashion and my fashion with artwork and quite often they overlap.
