Vegas Fashion Week (MAGIC, PROJECT & Pool)
February 13-15, 2012
Trend Report

1. Outdoor
If you are still planning on hitting the slopes you can embrace the beauty of winter without looking like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man! The staple “puffy” has been given a Vegas makeover, with edgy metallic fabrics and form-fitting waistlines.
2. Heritage
Barbour jackets, leather riding boots and cable knits. All the essentials for your countryside weekend getaway. It seems Jessica Simpson was on to something with her flannel tops and cowboy boots.

3. Neon
Neon, neon, EVERYWHERE! From tops to shoes, belts to dresses, watches to nail polish – Neon was the IT factor surrounding Vegas fashion week! Flirty and fun, neon provides a burst of energy to any wardrobe. Start of small with a neon purse or bracelet or go as bold as you dare with a neon dress or pair of pumps. With hues like crimson, neon orange and sky blue, how can you resist?

4. Aztec (and prints, in general)
A close 2nd to neon, Aztec and tribal inspired prints were a sure fire designer favorite this season! No longer reserved for just wool throw blankets and ponchos, this bold print adorned dresses, tights and denim. No longer reserved for evoking daydreams of winter, log cabins, curling up by the fireplace and sipping hot chocolate, Aztec is now more versatile than ever before.

5. Knits
Grandma’s been busy! Holes big or small, all is equal in the land of knits! Chunky sweaters, cowlnecks, and wraps in both prints and solids were a huge hit.

6. Highs and lows
It’s all about the waistline and pairing different fabrics on the top and bottom. Leather paired with cotton, jersey knit paired with linen. Designers are experimenting with various textures, creating pieces with new depth and dimension that are fresh and unique.

7. Color blocking
One bright, one bold, one neutral = color blocking. A mix-and-match color theory pairing graphic tops, dresses, skirts and accessories that make traditionally simple cuts way more dramatic! Dresses color blocked with different hues of the same color or neutrals with splashes of neon were certainly a popular trend.
