Mark Zunino’s beefy good looks should not distract from his clear understanding of femininity & a flair for attitude. The designer’s latest line pays homage to Rita Hayworth era 1940, bringing sultry drama to the runway during Fashion Week El Paseo. The floor-length evening gowns had timeless silhouettes with edgy detailing like deep plunges, corsets and extended trains. While more Diva-ish pieces contained louder statements like oversized hats, asymmetric sleeves & below the hip belts. His lush fabrics are tailored so that they pull in all of the right curves making some of the dresses as interesting in the back as in the front. Just like any good film it takes a lot of practice to get it right and with 25 years in the fashion biz he’s done everything from assist Emmy Award winner Nolan Miller to design for legendary actresses Elizabeth Taylor & Sophia Lauren. He continues to reinterpret Classic Hollywood designs in films, catwalks on today’s hottest lead ladies including Halle Berry, Gwyneth Paltrow & Angelina Jolie.
